The Battle Report

Following is an introduction how to read and interpret battle reports.

How to read a battle-report

The battle report shows the effective firepower and hitpoints of all ships combined. That means shield-strength, condition of a ship, and rank of a ship is already included in these values.

This is how to interpret the following battle-report:

Uncountednose’s firepower against light ships (the light-blue value) is 25464. Uncountednose’s firepower against heavy ships (the dark-blue value) is 23935. Uncountednose’s firepower against planetary defenses (the orange value) is 161700. All three of these values already have the increase from ship-rank included.

Uncountednose has both light and heavy ships involved in the battle but there are many more heavy hitpoints (138441) than light hitpoints (3510). Again, these values already include the shield strength and the condition of the ships.

On Zoot’s side we have a total firepower of 45669 against light ships, 112250 against heavy ships, and 65760 bombing firepower. Manfreds hitpoints are distributed between 72539 light and 51909 heavy. Additionally this battle is occuring in orbit around one of Zoot’s planets so there are also planetary hitpoints to contend with (133000).

As you should already know, each type of firepower will exclusively attack its own class first. Light and heavy firepower will carry over any overflow to the other ship class at 50% effectiveness. Bombing firepower can only be used against planetary defenses. As you can see Uncountednose’s bombing firepower exceeds Zoot’s planetary hitpoints. In no other aspect does the firepower of one side exceed the hitpoints of the other but clearly Zoot has an advantage both in hitpoints and total firepower. As a result the battle is a clear victory for Zoot. Even though all of the defenses on his planet were destroyed he succeeded in destroying 39 ships of Uncountednose’s fleet while only losing 6 of his own.

In case you destroyed ships during the battle, you will gain score and your ship-crew gains experience. This is listed at the end of the battle-report. If this is your first signifigant battle with an opponent you will also gain/lose reputation. Please read Score, Reputation And Rank for more detailed information on this.

More detailed information

By hovering the mouse-pointer over specific values of the battle-report, you can gain more detailed information how these values come about.

It is always a good idea to analyze the battle-reports to find out if you shouldn’t have better attacked with a different ship combo.

This also works for the score, reputation and experience part of the battle-report. Just hover the mouse over these values to gain more detailed information.
