Shows the name of the planet. Right next to the name special symbols are displayed, if certain buildings/facilities are present on that planet:
This planet has got a Shipyard, and therefore can build ships.
This planet has got a Central Defense Agency, and therefore can build scans.
This planet has built a Planetary Defense. The red bar symbolizes that its strength however is still very weak.
Hovering the mouse over the planet icon will bring up a tool-tip that shows the planets properties, commodities and quality factors. Hovering the mouse over the planet name will bring up a tool-tip that lists the facilities built on this planet.
Right-clicking on a planet entry will bring up its context menu with the following entries:
Shows the name of the system that the planet is located in, together with the coordinates of the system shown in brackets.
Sometimes it may be convenient to sort the planets by the system column, instead of by name. When you do this the planets will obviously be grouped together by the system they are located in, but also by the their colonization date. So planets that you do own for a longer time will be listed first within the solar-system, because their colonization date is lower. In addition the systems themselves are sorted by their coordinates.
This column has three numbers displayed. The gray number in brackets represents the number of stationed-military on this planet. Underneath that the population count (on the left), and the maximum population count (on the right) is shown.
Shows the available space (on the left), and the total space (on the right) of the planet. Every facility that you build on a planet uses a certain amount of space, which is limited per planet.
Displays the number of ships in orbit of this planet. Only your own ships are considered. The number of ships which are not sufficiently manned is displayed in red.
Shows the amount of food produced on a planet. The number in brackets displays the amount of food surplus (or shortage) produced on this planet. The number beneath that shows the absolute amount of food produced on this planet.
Displays the amount of production produced on this planet. Production is used to produce Facilities, ships and scans.
Displays the amount of research produced on this planet. All the research of all planets combined is used to research new technologies. You can choose the technology your scientist should emphasize on, in the Research Page.
Shows the amount of income on this planet. This number can be negative, which is the case if the upkeep cost for the planets facilities surpass the amount of income produced by its population.
This is a graphical representation of this planets population, and the stationed military. It also shows the distribution of job assignments. You can change the job assignment of single or multiple citizens right there. Left click on a citizen to select it. You can hold down the Shift key to select a range of citizens. You can use the Ctrl key to select/deselect several citizens. Alternatively you can use the left mouse-button to drag over a range of citizens, in order to select them.
A right-click on selected citizens pops up the context-menu, which lists the possible job assignments. You can transfer population back and forth between normal citizens and stationed military.
Shows the current production of the planet, and the number of turns until the production is complete. If the planet doesn’t actively produce anything, it converts the production into Wealth, which can be useful if you need money to finance the upkeep cost for your ships and facilities. In general however, if you do have enough money, you should always try to keep your planets busy with producing something.
Right click on the production symbol to bring up a context-menu, which lists the possible productions you can order a planet to build. You can order several planets to build the same production. To do so select the desired planets, and then right-click on one of them. If one of the selected planets doesn’t fulfill the requirements to build a specific production, then the corresponding item will be disabled. However, a tooltip on the disabled menu-item will inform you why exactly this item can not be built with the current selection.
This column displays the name of the Governor assigned to this planet, if any.
You can create/modify/assign a governor by right-clicking into this column, which pops up the usual context-menu. A double-click into this column will allow you to quickly access the governor dialog of this planet.
Please read the chapter The Governor for more information.
